The Plot

The Constant Warrior

The episode begins with Paladin receiving a letter from a woman named Abigail, who is in jail for murder. She claims to be innocent and has no one to turn to for help. Paladin is hired to protect her from a lynch mob that is coming to execute her before she stands trial.

Paladin travels to the town of Bellowsville to meet Abigail and investigate the case. He discovers that the town is split between two rival families, the Bannisters and the Abernathys. Abigail was caught in the middle of a feud between the families and was accused of shooting one of the Abernathy sons.

Paladin meets with both families and tries to gather information to clear Abigail's name. He learns that the Abernathys are hotheaded and quick to violence, while the Bannisters are more level-headed and willing to negotiate.
